EPDM ELASTOMERS TUBES

EPDM SEAL MATERIAL (BLACK / BLUE, FDA-COMPLIANT)

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is a fully FDA-compliant elastomer, available in both black and blue versions. It is widely used in sealing applications where reliability, durability, and compliance with sanitary standards are essential.

EPDM elastomers provide outstanding resistance to hot water and steam (up to +180 °C), cleaning agents, detergents, alkalis, and polar organic solvents. They also exhibit excellent weather, ozone, and UV resistance, making them highly suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. In addition, EPDM offers low gas permeability, excellent aging properties, and resistance to radiation, ensuring long service life.

Black EPDM – FDA-approved, typically used in industrial, mechanical, and general sealing applications due to its robustness and cost-efficiency.

Blue EPDM – FDA-approved, commonly used in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, where color differentiation is required for hygiene control and easy visual detection.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF EPDM

FDA compliance across all grades

both black and blue EPDM meet FDA requirements for food and drinking water contact.

Wide operating temperature range

From –40 °C to +150 °C, short-term up to +180 °C.

Chemical resistance

Excellent compatibility with hot water, steam, alkalis, acids, and detergents.

Superior weathering and ozone resistance

Reliable in outdoor applications and under extreme environmental exposure.

Color coding for industries

black for general/industrial use, blue for food and pharma to ensure hygiene standards.

Applications

EPDM elastomer seals (black and blue) are widely used in:
Good resistance
Hot water and steam up to +180 °C
Fire-resistant hydraulic fluids HFD-R
Detergents, sodium and potassium alkalis
Organic and inorganic acids (diluted)
Saline solutions and oxidizing environments
Fire-resistant hydraulic fluids HFC (glycol-water, in absence of mineral oils)
Large amount of polar solvents (ketones, esters, alcohols – diluted)
Brake fluids based on glycol
Average resistance
Silicone oil and grease (may cause reduction over time)
Low resistance
Aliphatic hydrocarbons (propane, butane, petrol, methane)
Mineral oils and animal/vegetable oils
Aromatic hydrocarbons (toluene, xylene) and chlorinated hydrocarbons
Concentrated organic acids (acetic, formic)
Biodegradable hydraulic fluids (depending on additives)
Fire-resistant fluids HFA, HFB, HFD-S
Strong polar solvents in concentrated form
