FKM (fluoroelastomer, also known as Viton®) is a premium elastomer based on fluorine-containing polymers, widely used in high-performance sealing solutions. This material offers outstanding resistance to high temperatures, ozone, weathering, and a broad range of chemicals, making it an ideal choice for manufacturing FKM seals, bushings, and semi-finished products.
FKM exhibits excellent chemical resistance, particularly against mineral oils, lubricants containing sulfur, HFD fluids, crude oil, and sour gas. Thanks to these properties, FKM seals ensure long-term and reliable operation in highly aggressive environments.
However, the material has limitations: it shows lower resistance to anhydrous ammonia, amines, ketones, esters, hot water, and low-molecular-weight organic acids.
With its high wear resistance, dimensional stability, and compliance with international standards, FKM is a versatile sealing solution. Certain special FKM grades are FDA-approved, making them suitable for food and pharmaceutical industry applications.
